Atreyee Nath: Talent & Passion

Some individuals become artists because of their passion towards Art. And their hard work makes them good artists. Some are born artists, as if art is given to them by the Almighty.

Atreyee Nath is a combination of both categories. Atreyee has an amazing inborn artistic talent, as well as a passion for drawing and painting, and she is also a hardworking girl. She puts a lot of effort into her drawings. She spends hours on a drawing or a painting until she is satisfied with the result, and that too seating at one place. This is one of the rare qualities for a teenager like her.

When we look at her drawings displayed in Chinha’s online gallery exhibition, we can see a variety of drawings in her gallery. This variety lies in her themes, drawing style and colour harmonies.

This black and white painting by Atreyee is just splendid. In a few white spots and some shades of grey, she has depicted the snowy nature… A dreamy and misty effect we can feel in this painting. This is what I mentioned above, a gift.

The above painting is a landscape drawing, we can see mountains, a waterfall, trees and the sky. But the uniqueness of this painting is that it is in single shades … also the composition of the painting is so beautiful, with its composition and monochromatic colour scheme, the painting really looks like a wonderful abstract painting, although it is a realistic drawing. As she wrote in her own description, these are her self-expressions. How many children her age understand their expressions through their art? Atreyee knows that everything she draws and paints is the result of the thoughts she has in her mind, and that this process called self-expression is something she is aware of at this age.

Atreyee’s rapid drawings or portraits in black and white are also a piece of fantastic art. Her Gurudev Rabindranath and Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar’s paintings are simply wonderful. It is a real pleasure to see such divine works of art.

Her painting of Devi ma (Goddesses worshipping the love of motherhood) is also one of the classic artworks. And I still remember watching the video of the making of this painting. As everyone knows, Bengali people have a great affection for the Navratri festival. Her father, who is a wonderful musician and master in playing more than forty musical instruments, makes some creative musical programs in these auspicious days of Navratri. At that time, the little child said to her father, “If you play music, I will paint a picture of Devi Ma. When the musical instruments sounded, the child immediately painted this picture, during the concert with the musical instruments. Is not that an art given by God?
