The Amar Mahal Palace was built by the Royal family of the erstwhile Kingdom of Jammu and Kashmir around 1890’s and was converted into a museum by Government of India in 1975. The collection consists of Pahari miniature, Kangra miniature paintings, a library of 25,000 antique books, many rare art collections, and a large collection of portraits of the royal family.
