‘Remembering’ by Chemould Prescott Road!

Chemould Prescott Road is all set for a special 5-day exhibition ‘Remembering’ at Hirji Gallery on first floor of Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai.

Chemould Prescott Road – one of India’s earliest commercial art galleries focusing on modern and contemporary art – launched their celebration of their 60^th year on 8^th September. As part of the celebration, the gallery is conducting a series events and exhibitions at multiple locations across Mumbai. The series is titled ‘CheMoulding | Framing Future Archives’, of which the first part titled ‘Framing’ concluded on 23^rd October. The second part ‘Futuring’ begins on 14^th November.

Between these two major 6 week long exhibitions, the gallery has scheduled a 5 day long special exhibition titled ‘Remembering’ which will be held at their earlier location in the Jehangir Art Gallery – The Hirji Gallery, during 31^st October to 5^th November. Through this exhibition, Chemould Prescott Road will be returning back to Gallery Chemould location on the first floor of the Jehangir Art Gallery after more than 16 years.

The gallery has announced that in this show ‘Remembering’, the focus will be on exhibiting exceptional art that passed through this gallery over the past six decades. This is a rare opportunity for art lovers as the gallery is displaying the pieces of art loaned from their collectors, which would not be available for viewing otherwise anywhere else.

Through this exhibition ‘Remembering’, gallery Chemould Prescott Road plans to post their memories, and has encouraged the readers and art lovers to share their own memories of visits and time spent at Gallery Chemould through Instagram and social media. Through this, the gallery hopes to create a new diary of archives.
