Call for Entries: Bombay Art Society

The prestigious Bombay Art Society has officially opened its doors for the 132^nd All India Annual Art Exhibition, scheduled to take place at the iconic Jehangir Art Gallery from 27^th February to 24^th March, 2024. The exhibition invites entries from both Professional Artists and Art Students in the categories of Paintings, Sculptures, and Photography.

The Bombay Art Society – founded in 1888 to provide a platform to artists – is one of the oldest art institutions in the Asian sub-continent. Their annual art exhibition being a significant event all year round. The society functioned out of Jehangir Art Gallery since 1952 until their new building was inaugurated at Bandra Reclamation in 2016.

To encourage young and upcoming artists, the Society has instituted several awards under each category viz. Professional category (27 awards amounting to total of INR 3,67,500/-), Student category (17 Awards amounting to total of INR 1,22,000/-), and 3 Scholarships (Amounting to total of INR 2,20,000/-) offered by the Bombay Art Society, individual sponsors and art patrons.

The eligibility criteria welcome artists of Indian nationality working in any style. Each participant can submit multiple entries in every category, with no restrictions on the number of entries. Entry fees can be paid online through the Bombay Art Society’s website or via online transfer to the society’s bank account.

Participants are required to send all entries, including artwork images in JPEG format, title, size, medium, and price, along with a scanned copy of the filled application form and payment screenshot, in a single email.

The deadlines are as follows:

Submission of digital entries by 5^th January, 2024

Announcement of selected artists: 24-25^th January, 2024

Physical artworks to be sent by: 10^th February, 2024.

Award winners declaration: At the exhibition’s inauguration on 27^th February, 2024, at the Jehangir Art Gallery.
