Umakant Kanade : A Retrospective at Raja Ravi Varma Gallery

Pune, 2nd June 2023 – The Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery in Pune is hosting a mid-career retrospective show titled “Umakant Kanade: A Retrospective Show.” Organized by IGA Galleria, the exhibition showcases the artistic journey and evolution of renowned artist Umakant Kanade. The exhibition, which commenced on 31st May, will run until 4th June 2023.

Umakant Kanade’s retrospective aims to capture the artist’s unique style and process, which has garnered recognition from art connoisseurs. The exhibition presents nearly 18 years of cumulative work, focusing primarily on three series of expression: the Stone series, Symbolic series, and Flora series.

Visitors to the exhibition can also explore Umakant Kanade’s recently launched coffee-table book, featuring a collection of his artworks and their nature-related concepts. The show offers various interactive sessions, including artist interactions, live demonstrations, and curator interactions. On 2nd June 2023 at 4:00 pm, there was an audience interaction session with Umakant Kanade and Art consultant / Curator Indranil Garai, where they shared their experiences and professional journey in the world of art.

The Umakant Kanade: A Retrospective Show is a celebration of the artist’s multifaceted persona, highlighting his passion for nature, his role as a mentor, and his contributions as an educationist.
