Folk Art show and Warli Art Workshop in “Lokchitra Sangam”

Nashik (25th August) – Lokchitra Sangam is a unique month-long Folk Art Festival organized by Warli Art Foundation at Nashik. Slated between 1st and 31st August, this unique festival is happening at the art gallery in the P. N. Gadgil Showroom at Nashik Road. After the successful organization of three consecutive art exhibitions, the fourth exhibition in this series was inaugurated yesterday (24th August). Total of 25 artist participants are presenting their enchanting works in this festival, representing various folk-art styles across India. The art festival is conceptualized and convened by Mr Sanjay Deodhar, a journalist and Warli painting scholar. This fourth and last exhibition includes art works by Padmaja Oturkar, Madhavi Pathak, Shraddha Rawal, Nivedita Potdar, Smita Gangal, Devika Kashikar and Sanjay Deodhar.

The inaugural event was graced by the presence of dignitaries including Dr. Kavita Patil – Vice Principal of S.M.R.K. Women’s College, Ajay Boraste – Shiv Sena District Chief and President of Urja Yuva Pratishthan and Balganesh Foundation, Architect Nilay Shah and Interior Designer Sara Shah as chief guests. During the inaugural speech Mr Ajay Boraste announced the plan for creation of a well-equipped art gallery at the Balasaheb Thackeray Museum at Nashik. Prof Patil introduced Sunandatai Gosavi Art Gallery to the audience and Mr Shah assured to provide various opportunities to painters.

The entire Art festival is open to all free of charge and art works are available for purchase. Convenor Mr Sanjay Deodhar on behaof of all participating artists appealed to art lovers to attend the exhibition and enjoy the works of art.

Training Workshop on Warli Painting Style

As part of the Art Festival, a one-day Warli painting style training workshop has been organized on 27th August. It will include training in Warli painting on cloth and pottery. Any art enthusiasts above 10 years of age can participate for a fee. Admission is limited.
