JJ Campus Marks Founder’s Birth Anniversary

15th July, Mumbai – Sir JJ School of Art, Sir JJ College of Architecture, and Sir JJ Institute of Applied Art came together to celebrate the 240th birth anniversary of their visionary founder, Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy.

The event held even greater significance as the Cabinet recently approved the Denovo University application, marking a significant milestone for the three schools. In conjunction with this achievement, a new alumni association called “Ek JJ” was launched to commemorate the occasion.

The formation of “Ek JJ” embodies the spirit of unity within the newly established university. The association aims to foster lifelong connections, support professional development, and contribute to the growth of both the alumni and current student community.

The celebration took place on Saturday morning at the Sir JJ Arts Campus, resonating with enthusiasm and pride as the JJ School embarked on this new chapter of autonomy. Alumni, faculty, and students gathered to honor the remarkable journey and contributions of their founder, Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy. The event witnessed a significant turnout, with alumni, faculty, and current students from all three schools coming together at the JJ campus.

Dr. Kshirsagar, the Dean of Sir JJ Institute of Applied Art, delivered a speech outlining the vision for the future. Renowned artist Ashutosh Apte emphasized the importance of a unified alumni body, while another senior alumni member highlighted Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy’s exceptional contributions to the city. The event culminated with a spirited chant of “Hum sab: Ek JJ” and a commitment to frequent interactions for the betterment of the university.

The celebration not only honored the legacy of Sir Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy but also marked the beginning of a new era of collaboration and progress within the Sir JJ School community.
