Sculptor Prakash Patkar passed away

The art world lost a visionary with the passing of renowned sculptor Prakash Patkar on 14th June 2023. For over 40 years, he devoted his life to creating inspiring works of art that brought joy and wonder to all who encountered them. Along with his father, the veteran sculptor Ganesh Patkar, he created the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Fort Raigad, Equestrian Shivaji Maharaj at Poladpur, Maharana Pratap at Udaipur Smriti, Rani Kettur Chennama at Dharwad Hubli, Netaji Shubhash Chandra Bose at Girgaon Chowpatty and Delhi.

Prakash Patkar was an alumnus of the prestigious art school, Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai. He completed his education in GD art in sculpture and modelling. He started his studio Patkar Arts which was well known for its magnificent works. He was also well known for creating Ganesh idols of famous Public Ganesha Mandals in Mumbai.  Among them, he made the idols of Ganpati mandals like GSB, Girgaon Raja, Girgaon Maharaja, Kumbharwadi, and Kamathipura. The Ganesha idols made by him were magnificent and made of Shadu clay.
