Shanghai Artist in Mumbai

Mumbai, 13th July – Kismat Art x Cosmic Heart Gallery proudly presents the “Unveiling Serendipity” solo exhibition, featuring the works of multidisciplinary artist Tongji Philip Qian. The exhibition, which explores the intersection of chance and artistic expression, invites art enthusiasts on a thought-provoking journey of self-discovery.

Tongji’s woodblock prints transport viewers into a realm where intention and serendipity seamlessly intertwine. Each meticulously carved piece reflects the artist’s unwavering dedication, evoking a sense of vulnerability and resilience.

“Unveiling Serendipity” encourages visitors to embrace the beauty found in the unexpected and contemplate the intricate connections that chance weaves into our lives. The prints inspire wonder, prompting reflection on the fragility and strength inherent in personal journeys.

Tongji Philip Qian is a multidisciplinary artist and the co- founder of TPQ Studio. As artist, he is interested in capturing the edge of an artistic practice through his idiosyncratic definitions of speed, labor, internationalism, and immigration. His art writing on the other hand, studies movements commonly associated with Minimalism, Post-Minimalism, and Conceptual art. Recent projects include “Art Beside a Single Handshake” from 2020, “Questionnairing Reality” from 2021, and a forthcoming artist book titled “Neighborly Passport Keep Right Except to Pass.” Phil’s work is housed in a number of public collections, such as the Asia Art Archive in America, the Center for Book Arts in New York, and the Berlin Art Library. Phil received his BAs in art history and mathematics from Carleton College, and his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.

The exhibition takes place at Kismat Art Gallery, located at 11 Dena Bank Building, 3rd Pasta Lane, Colaba Market, Mumbai 400 005. The gallery welcomes the public from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The exhibition runs until mid-August, allowing ample time for exploration and inspiration.
